Great American Ball Park

Chase Burns and the bullpen combined on a shutout as the Cincinnati Reds blanked the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 on Monday night at Great American Ball Park. The win improved the Reds to 3-1 on the season.

Burns Shines

Burns was dominant on the mound, keeping the Pirates' offense quiet with his fastball-slider combination. The right-hander struck out batters at an impressive clip and gave the bullpen a clean handoff for the final innings.

Pitching Wins the Day

The Reds scratched across two runs and let the pitching staff do the rest. It was Cincinnati's first shutout of the season and a statement performance from a rotation that has been excellent outside of the Opening Day loss.

The series continues Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.
