Sources Year-by-year fielding lines from the official MLB Stats API (group=fielding, position C). Framing values, pop time, arm strength, exchange, and Fielding Run Value from Baseball Savant's catcher-framing data and FRV leaderboard. Numbers may differ slightly from Baseball Reference, which uses Sports Info Solutions's DRS family rather than Statcast.
Percentile Higher is always better in the percentile view, with green for elite and red for poor. The system inverts automatically for lower-is-better stats — passed balls, wild pitches, errors, stolen bases allowed, pop time, exchange, and catcher ERA — so a 90th-percentile passed-ball row is one that allowed very few.
Pool Single-season percentiles use that year's qualified-MLB-catcher pool: 30+ games for classic stats, top 60 by PA at C for Statcast metrics, Savant's qualified pool (5+ SBA) for pop time. The career row uses era-wide pools: 63 catchers with 200+ career games, top 80 by career PA at C, 103 catchers with 30+ career SBA.
Career row Counting stats sum. Rate stats (FPCT, CS%, cERA, pop time, arm strength, exchange) are weighted averages by their relevant denominator. The career row's percentile is computed against the era-wide cohort.
