Brandon Williamson and three relievers combined on a three-hit shutout as the Cincinnati Reds blanked the Miami Marlins 2-0 on Monday night at loanDepot park. The win extended the Reds' winning streak to four games and improved their record to 7-3.

Williamson Deals

Williamson was outstanding, tossing 6.2 innings of three-hit ball with four strikeouts and one walk on 93 pitches. The left-hander worked efficiently, keeping the Marlins off balance with a devastating changeup that generated a whiff rate above 60 percent.

Scoring Plays

The Reds broke through in the fourth inning when Elly De La Cruz ripped a hustle double and scored on Sal Stewart's single. Tyler Stephenson provided insurance with a solo home run to left field in the eighth inning, his second homer in the last four games.

Bullpen Locks It Down

Brock Burke entered to strand a runner in the seventh, earning a hold. Tony Santillan worked a scoreless eighth inning for his fourth hold of the season. Emilio Pagan closed it out in the ninth for his fourth save, completing the Reds' third shutout in their first 10 games.

Tough Luck for Junk

Marlins starter Janson Junk turned in a quality start of his own, lasting 7.1 innings while allowing just two earned runs on seven hits. He deserved a better fate but received no run support against the Reds' pitching staff.

The Reds and Marlins continue the four-game series Tuesday with Andrew Abbott facing Sandy Alcantara in the marquee pitching matchup.
