Sal Stewart crushed two home runs and drove in six runs as the Cincinnati Reds routed the San Francisco Giants 8-3 on Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. Elly De La Cruz and Eugenio Suárez also went deep in a power display that overwhelmed former Red Tyler Mahle.
Stewart's Monster Night
Stewart was the story of the game, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI. He's been one of the most productive hitters in the Reds' lineup all season and delivered his biggest game yet on Tuesday. The two-homer performance continued a stretch of dominance that has made him one of the most exciting young hitters in the National League.
Three Reds Go Deep
De La Cruz launched a solo homer and Suárez added a solo shot of his own as part of a 3-for-4 night. The trio of home runs chased Mahle after just four innings, during which he surrendered eight hits and eight earned runs in a rough return to Cincinnati.
Lowder Earns the Win
Rhett Lowder improved to 2-1 with 6.2 innings of three-run ball, striking out four. Brock Burke, Graham Ashcraft, and Pierce Johnson combined to close it out over the final 2.1 innings.
The Reds go for the sweep Wednesday afternoon at Great American Ball Park with Chase Burns on the mound.
