Cincinnati Reds, Brent Suter agree to 1 year-deal.

CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati-born pitcher, is set to make his debut for the hometown team. According to a source disclosed to MLB.com on Thursday, the Reds have reached an agreement with veteran lefty reliever Brent Suter on a one-year contract, guaranteeing him $3 million.

While the official announcement from the club is pending, details of the deal indicate that Suter will receive $2.5 million in 2024. Additionally, the contract includes a club option for the ’25 season worth $3.5 million, along with a $500,000 buyout.

Hailing from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, the 34-year-old Suter boasts a career record of 40-22 with a 3.49 ERA in 253 games, split between the Brewers (2016-22) and Rockies (’23). In his last season with Colorado, Suter impressed with a 3.38 ERA across 57 appearances and 69 1/3 innings.

The addition of Suter strengthens the Cincinnati bullpen, which already features lefties Sam Moll and Alex Young. Once officially confirmed, this move will mark the latest in a series of free-agent signings by the Reds. The club has committed $108.25 million to six players, including starting pitcher Frankie Montas, versatile pitcher Nick Martinez, established relievers Suter, Emilio Pagán, and Buck Farmer, as well as infielder Jeimer Candelario.
